That's Alright

Words and Music by Michael Meade

I used to write a love song

I knew a thousand ways to say "I love you"

And I still do.

I used to sing a sweet song

I knew a thousand ways to make you smile

For a while, hmmmm.

Chorus: But my pen is out of practice

And my guitar's out of tune

            The words aren't the same

They just seem to hide the wounds

            But that's alright

You see I'm not complainin'

'Cause I love you more than I can say

Sittin' here today.

But I can still remember

A time when love just meant holding hands

And walking in the sand, hmmmm.

Chorus

Bridge: Yea that's alright

            Cause love is different now

It's changed in so many ways

            I can't say how I feel

Not like I could back in my

            Poet days.

The words they seemed so easy then

Love was just a simple word to write

And speak at night.

But I've gotten older now

Love has hurt me many, many times

In my life, in my rhymes

Chorus
