WRITER'S NOTES:

Valerie was a girl in the office where I worked.  She was a secretary for the head of our division, but she also did many other things.  We got to be good friends, and frequently went out at night to either enjoy a dinner or go dancing till the wee hours of the night.

Some people thought that there was something bigger going on, but in fact, we were just friends.  Once in a while, I let myself wonder about if it could go further.  But of course, I knew better.  We weren't lovers, but we made good dance partners. 

I knew that our relationship was not long term.  We were just having fun together while we had that chance.  I knew that someday she would meet someone special, and there would be no more time for me. 

And in fact, both our lives took different directions, and we parted company in a hardly noticable way.  But I still have the memories of the good times we had.

I still see her once in a while.  She knows that the song exists, and I even gave her a tentative copy of it.  I wonder what will happen if she ever hears it on the radio?
